Hi SD Rubyists, I'm looking forward to seeing you at tonight's event, and I wanted to let you know about another event that may be of interest to you next week. Next Tuesday (Jan 10) is the monthly meeting of San Diego Javascript<http://sandiegojs.org/>. We'll be meeting at our standard location of 3rdspace in University Heights (website <http://3rdspace.co/> | map<http://maps.google.com/maps/place?q=3rdspace,+iii,+4610+Park+Boulevard,+San+Diego,+CA+92116&hl=en&cid=18285003287687817840>), starting at 7:30. We'll have two talks, and then head next door for beer and socializing. If you want more info or to be appraised of future meetings, sign up on meetup.com <http://www.meetup.com/sandiegojs/>!
We have two great speakers lined up for this meetup; I'm very excited about these talks. Read on to get a quick summary about what you'll be learning: Jarrod Overson will be giving a talk on writing modular javascript with AMD (Asynchronous Module Definition) style libraries and AMD loaders like requireJS. He'll be going through a brief history and comparison of javascript loaders as well as how to incorporate existing libraries into an AMD style application. Humberto Evans will be talking about generating graphics in the browser using SVG. He will very briefly cover the basics of what an SVG is and why its cool that we can use them in a browser. He will then switch over to talking about the Raphael SVG library, its pros and cons, as well as some of its quirks he has discovered while working with it. Hope to see you all there! -Kevin -- SD Ruby mailing list [email protected] http://groups.google.com/group/sdruby
