Railsconf 2012 will be held April 23-25 in Austin, Texas: http://railsconf2012.com . There doesn't seem to be an early bird discount, so I asked for SD Ruby and they sent me a group discount code for 10% off the ticket price. The code is good for up to 5 tickets and until Feb. 29th. The code is rcad0a4c87.
I attended Railsconf in 2008 and 2010. Each time I got one excellent idea that I adopted to make my development efforts significantly better (I won't share those, one is embarrassingly simple--but, hey, you get ideas where you get 'em), and a few others. I don't go to socialize, though I know many do and I'm happy to meet people in the business, and I don't go to learn anything in detail (except in a tutorial) because I much prefer learning by doing at my own pace. I go to get exposure to topics I don't have time to investigate, and to get a sense of where the community is headed, and I go to pick up ideas and ways to do things differently that will make me more productive or get me into new areas I might not think of myself. Having attended dozens of conferences over the years on various technical and non-technical topics, I would say that if I can take away one such idea per day, I'm doing well. Hope to see you at Railsconf 2012. -- SD Ruby mailing list [email protected] http://groups.google.com/group/sdruby
