= OUR GOAL =

We want to show people how awesome Ruby is -- without getting bogged down in
configuring a full development environment on everyone's laptop.

We'll be doing a brief "Rails Starter" demo where we demonstrate how to create
a basic Rails application, including routes, models, controllers, views,
activerecord, gems, etc.

Everyone who attends will be able to download a VMWare image and run the demo
locally on their own laptop.

= MEETING =

At 7:30, we'll start installing and configuring systems. The demo will start at
8pm.

If you want to download the image ahead of time, you can do so at
http://www.sdruby.org/tutorial

At that point we'll break into two groups. The first group will consist of
everyone who installed the image successfully. If anyone is still struggling
with installation issues, they'll join the second group and move out to the
hallway so they can get help on a case-by-case base.

The first group will get a brief tutorial and an extended Q&A session. We may
also repeat the tutorial for the second group, as time allows.

= HELP WANTED =

To make this happen, we need your help! If you are experianced in Ruby or in
setting up VMs, or you just want to help greet people, please try and come
early (say 7 - 7:15).

Thanks and Looking Forward To Seeing Everyone Tomorrow,
Rob Kaufman
