I absolutely agree we should all want to learn about as many new technologies 
as possible and watch for trends in the market. I don't think I'm pushing back 
against your conclusions because I'm a Rubyist, more considering them as a 
developer and deciding I don't agree with them.




It felt like your original commentary was on the alarmist side.  I know a lot 
of people read these messages, see comments by folks like you that are 
respected in the community, and make sometimes rash assumptions about them. I 
totally think these are the kinds of questions we have to ask our selves, and I 
appreciate this kind of rational discussion.  The answer to your original 
question "Could it really be that they've been looking this long and found no 
one?" is pretty clearly been answer "nope", and any thing based on that false 
assumption doesn't seem super relevant to me.
