Join us this Thursday, October 8th, for an in-depth look inside a high-performing Agile team. Winners of the AgileSD Team Excellence Award 2014, ID Analytics, will be joining us at LEARN in North Park at 6:30pm for an open discussion on their Agile transformation. Join us for a candid evening of stories and advice from various members of the ID Analytics Scrum team.
~ Agile Transformation at ID Analytics ~ The adoption of Agile at ID Analytics has been an evolving and a cascading success story. What started out as an initial drizzle of experimentation has over time turned into a storm of constructive change. As a result of the transition from Waterfall to Agile, ID Analytics enjoyed a tremendous and immediate increase in adaptability. It allowed us to meet changing business needs efficiently. Our time to market increased at the same time that we were able to substantially increase employee satisfaction (as measured by an annual employee engagement survey). On the technical side, the requirement to build, test, release, and deploy within a single sprint was simply not do-able within our previous technical framework and we systematically began to change our architecture to condense the release cycle so that it could (eventually) match the cadence of Scrum. We changed our surroundings by moving to an open office format in which every individual in every role has a workstation. There are no offices. The ‘natural’ walls that used to exist between the QA group and the developers as well as those between Engineering and Product have virtually disappeared with the full adoption of Agile. Synchronization between the Engineering, Operations, and Product teams has led to a deeper understanding of the customer requirements, and the resulting collaboration has led to better solutions that has deeply impacted the customer. We will try to cover the effects Agile has had on our culture, technical work, our customers and ultimately our business. The meeting will be held from 6:30 to 8pm at LEARN <http://learn.notch8.com/> in North Park. Directions and parking information are here <http://www.agilesandiego.org/monthly-meeting/>. We’ll be walking to a local restaurant for more Agile chat after the meeting at 8pm.
