I'm in the process of applying to App Academy <http://www.appacademy.io/#p-home>, a developer bootcamp that focuses on Rails and JavaScript. For the past few months, I've been learning Ruby syntax and writing small programs that give me some practice at manipulating strings and arrays. The next round of my application process requires that I write a few more, small programs based not upon problem descriptions in English, but based on tests written in Ruby. They use RSpec and the Test::Unit framework.
App Academy mentions some online resources that give a basic introduction to Ruby tests, so I've been using, the Ruby Koans <http://rubykoans.com/> tutorial, this blog post <http://pragmaticstudio.com/blog/2005/3/18/ruby-learning-test-1-are-you-there-world> the first (free) part of Code School's RSpec course <https://www.codeschool.com/courses/testing-with-rspec>. Prior to this I read about six chapters of Peter Cooper's *Beginning Ruby* and I skimmed the first ten chapters of Chris Pines' *Learn to Program* which uses examples written in Ruby. Instead of investing in more online resources, I think I'm ready to pay an experienced person to meet with me a few times. -- -- SD Ruby mailing list [email protected] http://groups.google.com/group/sdruby --- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "SD Ruby" group.
