I understand your points, Alex, but what is your suggestion? Imagine this: you just need some fairly simple reports. Some of them require summations and aggregations, but not full on data mining or anything like that. You've got hardly any budget left because you already spent your budget getting to MVP.
What do you do? How do you get some data out of your system cheaply and easily? So far BIME seems to be the best answer. And it has the advantage of being able to grab data from sources other than the OLTP when we're ready to go get those. In my complaint previously, I was saying that we could start sending events like "Sale at $120.00 of product x to user y" to Mixpanel, but I don't trust MixPanel to be an accurate reflection of my OLTP.
