Holy crap, Those A's and C's are blowing my mind right now. I'm in the mood for problem solving, so how about you write a brief actual example of one of your problems. Hopefully this will illuminate the other problem as well. I'm talking plain english, like "Dogs have many fleas, and a flea could have been on any number of dogs over a period of time"

Hello, I am looking for a Rails expert who can help me to fill in some of the gaps in the AWD Rails (2) book. I have a specific project I'm working on, and have two or three areas where I can't move forward because I can't find answers (which, I know are probably quite simple) to the issues. I can pay $25/hr and only need about 2-3 hours, although I may need additional help once the project gets off the ground. I live near SDSU and work out of my home office; as my project is not on my laptop, I'd prefer someone to come here, although I could probably transfer most of the data to my laptop and we could meet elsewhere. I had posted this as a "gig" on Craigs List, and while I received many offers of help, none of them actually panned out. I appreciate offers of free help, but I'd prefer to pay an expert for his or her time. I'm looking for someone confident enough of his or her skills to be willing to accept payment for their time and help. Without getting into a very long and complicated description of my challenges, the basic issue is that I need to know how to create a controller and a view that can access and display information from related tables in a database. Every Rails book I have uses a shopping cart as a model, and that simply doesn't translate to what I'm doing. If "A" has many "B", and I have the model files set up correctly, I want to be able to view a full listing of the data in "A" AND also include all of the data from "B" using the "A_id" as the parameter all on the same page. Ultimately, I'll need a view that includes not only the "A" and "B" data, but also "C", "D", "E" etc....each of which uses the "A_id" to pull the data from the related tables-and the ability to show or hide each related table data section using AJAX. I don't know how to set up the controller for this, and I don't know how to access the data from the related tables in the view. I will also have a more complicated domain model question involving multiple many-to-many relationships between tables that may or may not be able to function correctly using an "A" has many "B" through "C" model, because "A" and "B" also have to have a direct many-to-many relationship on their own that may not involve any data from the "C" table, and both "A" and "B" have many "C" although each "C" will belong to only one "A" and one "B". I would prefer to be contacted initially via eMail. Please let me have some idea of your rails expertise when you reply. Thank you all in advance. Kevin B.
