I'm looking into S3, and I'd like to know if anyone has experience backing up a bucket.
I'm not worried about data loss due to fault on Amazon's side. Instead, I'm worried about accidentally deleting a file or something goofy like that on my end. From what I understand, if that happens, you're SOL. It would be nice if I could periodically take a snapshot of a bucket and copy it to another bucket. The simplest case would be to just make a bucket with a new name and copy all the items. Of course, I'd like to avoid paying for the data transfer costs. 2 questions on this: 1. Is there a simple command to do this? I haven't seen anything in the aws-s3 docs. 2. Assuming the answer to 1 is no, has anyone done this? I'm thinking it could be done using EC2, since the transfer to and from EC2 is free. However, I have no experience with EC2, nor do I really want to learn it. Does somebody have a rake task that will do this magically? Any help would be greatly appreciated, Micah _______________________________________________ Sdruby mailing list [email protected] http://lists.sdruby.com/mailman/listinfo/sdruby
