It seems to depend on what version you manage to get (there are very frequent updates with incremental changes between revisions). I ended up using version 3601 and that has worked very smoothly on Linux. I had tried an earlier version and a later version and was having show stopper problems with the editor with those versions.

I dropped in jVi on top of that and I actually feel I could be productive in an IDE now.

Its not bad [gotta love the autocomplete] but I had some weird issues
with the editor display - code missing / appearing.. kind of a show
