What used to be the domain of crooked waiters with handheld scanners has rapidly transformed into high-tech thievery. These days crooks are placing computer chips inside point-of-sale credit card terminals that have the ability to dial out and send the stolen credit card numbers to the thief's computer. A company called Hypercom discovered the bugs and issued a warning last week. Naturally, the response from industry heavyweights like Visa was lukewarm.
