In an effort to position its business server for small-to-mid sized
businesses as a good all-in-one solution for storage needs, IBM has
signed an agreement with Emulex to use the Emulex LightPulse LP9002
host bus adapters with its eServer iSeries offerings.

[5] "IBM sets new Web serving benchmark" 
IBM's eServer has displaced a Sun UltraSparc-based system as the
world's fastest Web-serving machine measured under the SPECweb99
benchmark. The benchmark record comes as IBM prepares to release its
new lineup of POWER4-based systems in the fourth quarter.

IBM has rolled out a battery of hosting services including some
security features, as well as support for Linux in the hosting
environment -- although they're aimed mostly at smaller business
customers.

[7] "IBM to optimize WebSphere for Intel Itanium chip" 
IBM is expected to announce soon that it will add Intel's 64-bit
Itanium chip family to WebSphere. BEA on Monday announced similar
plans to optimize its WebLogic software to Itanium.

[8] "iSeries wants a dose of the mainframe's Linux success" 
IBM is hoping it'll get the same positive response for Linux on the
iSeries that its mainframe received. Since Linux running in LPAR
debuted on the mainframe in May 2000, Big Blue has netted about 100
mainframe customers running Linux.

Here's another really good reason not to put into writing anything
you wouldn't say aloud to a room full of people. Sircam, the latest
virus spreading on the Net, grabs a random document from your
computer's hard drive, hides itself in the code, then passes on the
infected document to everyone in your digital address book. That
means any document on your hard drive is fair game for distribution
to practically everyone you know.
