LEAD STORY

CLUSTERING COMES OF AGE | News: InfoWorld
Mainframe computing, the concepts of clustering and fail-over are
decades old. The relatively recent migration to PC computing,
however, has created a demand for comparable levels of
enterprise-grade risk-mitigation for these low-cost, distributed
computing platforms as well.

INTERNAL DTD IN XML WITH THE IBM PARSER 1.2 | search390 Developer
Discussion Forum

Does anyone have a solution for user Balmoral who recently posted
this query in our Developer discussion forum: "I have a software that
uses the IBM C Parser 1.2 that I use in batch. Parsing the XML with a
DOCTYPE that references a DDNAME (for the external DTD) works well.
But for technical reasons, I also need to make the same XML work with
the same DTD but this time, inside the XML. The DOCTYPE statement
should therefore disappear. Unfortunately, it does not work."

THE MISSING LINK | E-mail spam seen surging in 2002

Admit it -- you're sitting there thinking, "Gotta have more spam."
Maybe you like the attention. Maybe you have a thing for the "delete"
icon. Maybe you'd rather do anything besides work. Whatever the
reason, you're going to get more spam in your e-diet in 2002. E-mail
volume is expected to grow by 45% next year, and analysts say most of
that will be junk. Some surveys estimate that workers spend up to an
hour each day dealing with all their e-mail, so set aside some more
time. It still beats telemarketers, doesn't it?
