To assuage some of his fellow assemblerholics, here are portions of the original C code examples along with the S/370 assembler equivalents. There's even a playback of the various bit values in mid twiddle. Any more complaints and there'll be a karaoke sing-along to "follow the bouncing bits." >> CLICK for full tip: http://www.search390.com/tip/1,289483,sid10_gci810882,00.html >> CLICK for "Bits twiddled while-u-wait!" tip: http://search390.techtarget.com/tip/1,289483,sid10_gci805759,00.html Got a 390-developer tip of your own? The current batch program is driven by input statements which designate files by DDNAME (like "MERGE ddname1 INTO ddname2"). The ddnames are allocated in the batch JCL, but I can't see any way to write the ASSIGN clause of the SELECT statement so that ddname is a variable. Am I missing something? >> CLICK for Tom's response: http://search390.techtarget.com/ateQuestionNResponse/0,289625,sid10_cid449095_tax285603,00.html =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= NEED HELP INTERCEPTING COBOL LOAD MODULE USING C PROGRAM | Developer forum Search390 member "NareHara" posted this in the Developer forum and needs your help: "I need info on the interception of COBOL load module at run time using C program." The U.S. Supreme Court has refused to hear a petition to change a South Carolina law that bans the sale of urine to beat drug tests -- the court doesn't think the case holds much water. A businessman in Greenville, who sold his own pristine urine for $69 a pop over his Web site (complete with a "warmer" to give the specimen the feel of authenticity), just couldn't hold it. He challenged the law, claiming companies use results to discriminate against pregnant women, people on certain medications, or those genetically prone to certain diseases, not just drug users. You could say he put the "pee" in "peeved." But evidently his case isn't exactly the High Court's, um, No. 1 priority. South Carolina has forbidden him to sell his "impeesters" in any state.
