IBM CEO SEES UP TO $2 BILLION PER YEAR IN COST CUTS | News: Reuters IBM CEO Sam Palmisano said his company expects to drive down its costs by $1 billion to $2 billion per year. But, his comments were hardly shocking. Analysts have predicted for months that IBM, which has been faced with stagnant sales due to a technology spending slowdown, has to cut costs in order to meet its targets for 2002 profits, including possible job cuts. SEC FORMALLY INVESTIGATING CA | News: CRN The SEC is formally investigating software giant Computer Associates. The investigation appears generally to be focusing on issues relating to the company's historical revenue recognition policies and practices. The filing comes one day after CA reported a narrowed loss and increased revenue for its fourth quarter. HOW IBM CONQUERED E-COMMERCE SOFTWARE MARKET | News: EcommerceTimes IBM has made a name for itself in the e-biz software market -- part through savvy partnerships with software companies specializing in e-biz, and in part by offering its WebSphere software. GARTNER SAYS IBM, SUN, HP GAINED IN SERVER SALES | News: Reuters Looks like everyone's a winner -- almost. According to stats just released from Gartner Dataquest, IBM, Sun and Hewlett-Packard all gained share in the U.S. computer server market during the first quarter. The stored procedure passes the row received from the trigger to an MQ. The problem is this: The COBOL program does not retain the connection to the MQ for each invocation. I find I have to reconnect to the MQ each time the stored procedure is triggered. It works but is very slow (30ms)." Can you help solve the dilemma? If so, please share your thoughts and suggestions. Dell thinks its "Dude, you're gettin' a Dell" ad campaign and pimply pitchman are so hip that the company is cranking out campus-cool "Dude Gear" -- T-shirts, baseball hats, backpacks and CD cases. Now you can get "duded up" without buying a Dimension. The company says the dude duds are just a natural extension of the commercials; so basically you can have what Steven has. Fortunately, other stuff the character may have (like a fake ID, beer-battered futon and three-month-old pizza boxes) aren't part of the package.
