HOW TO READ TSQS WITH MULTIPLE RECORDS? | by Robert Harris

Dear Ask the Expert,
I am not clear on reading TSQs with multiple records. From what I
gather, using the item number value, a program can position itself to
a specific record -- kind of a keyed read. From that point, readnext
can be executed as necessary. Is this understanding correct?

IS IT POSSIBLE TO USE PING IN A REXX PROCEDURE? | by Jim Keohane

Dear Ask the Expert,
Under HTTP server I would like to use the ping function in a Rexx
procedure, but I can't. Do you know if it's possible? Context: HTML
calls a CGI and the CGI call a Rexx procedure on OS/390.

SEARCH390.COM DISCUSSION FORUMS | Operating Systems

Mainframe newbie "imwondering" posted the following questions in the
Operating Systems forum: "I often see MVS, OS/390 and z/OS referred
to as one -- for simplicity's sake, I guess. Is this because they are
just different "versions," if you will, of an S/390 OS "family" (with
MVS being the oldest and z/OS being the newest)? And same with VM,
VM/ESA and z/VM?

"What are VSE and VSE/ESA? I know ESA stands for Enterprise Systems
Architecture, but not much else.

"What is DASD? I thought it was just a fancy name for disk drive."
