It uses about seven minutes of CPU time. I would like to tune this. Can you shed some light on this subject? >> CLICK for Mark's expert response: http://search390.techtarget.com/ateQuestionNResponse/0,289625,sid10_cid503904_tax287555,00.html =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= NEED HELP IMPROVING DFSORT PERFORMANCE? | by Mark Zelden Dear Ask the Expert, I'm trying to improve the performance of a DFSORT step. My input is a VSAM KSDS file and output is a QSAM file. The VSAM dataset has no buffers specified in the JCL and defaults to BUFND=2 and BUFNI=1. The elapsed time of the DFSORT step is created by the I/O of these two files. My question is, if I code the AMP parameter in the JCL and increase the number of data buffers, will it help to reduce the I/O and shorten the elapsed time? >> CLICK for Mark's expert response: http://search390.techtarget.com/ateQuestionNResponse/0,289625,sid10_cid492818_tax287555,00.html =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= ANY PERFORMANCE PROBLEMS WHEN MIGRATING TO Z/OS? | by Jim Schesvold Dear Ask the Expert, Are there any known performance issues when migrating from OS/390 to z/OS? >> CLICK for Jim's expert response: http://search390.techtarget.com/ateQuestionNResponse/0,289625,sid10_cid504222_tax292523,00.html =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= DETERMINING INCREMENTAL CPU USAGE IN COBOL | Operating Systems forum Jim Keohane recently shared his insights with Search390.com user "Trebor33" in the Operating Systems forum. Check your tot's tummy If bizarre stories were movies, this one would win the Oscar. When a lady from London couldn't get her car started after a shopping trip, she called for help. A policeman arrived to try to figure out why her Ford was on the fritz. He deduced that the problem was with the fuel tank -- her 1-year-old son Oscar's fuel tank. Evidently the tot had been sucking on the keys and had swallowed a small security chip needed for the car to start. Just for the heck of it, Mom held Oscar in her lap, pressed his belly against the steering wheel and, whadaya know, the car started right up. Oscar is fine with no bellyaches to speak of. The chip, which was later recovered from his diaper, still works.
