This time of year, a lot of people start to look back and think of all the major events, milestones and surprises of the past twelve months. Breaking tradition is hardly the theme at Search390.com, so let us reminisce about how the site has grown throughout the past year.

Ringing in new experts
Three new experts joining the strong lineup at Search390.com in 2002. Craig Mullins came on board to answer all of your database and DB2 questions and Jim Schesvold signed on to help out with any questions relating to z/OS and migration. Recently, Robert Harris became the new CICS expert, and has already furnished members with dozens of answers.

Building a library
One of the most exciting features that launched on Search390.com this year is the new White Papers section. Our searchable database of over one hundred white papers on subjects ranging from the technical to the strategic can be browsed by either topic or author. Be sure to check this section often to get the latest information from vendors and experts.

Preparing for the future
The new Data Center Futures newsletter was launched in September, giving OS/390 professionals at all levels a glimpse at the important issues they will face in the coming years. Don't miss out on this preview of what the future of the data center has in store for you. Add it to your profile today, and catch up on past issues in the tips section.

The lighter side
For those who need a laugh or just a quick break from their work, the Missing Link is a popular feature in each Search390.com newsletter. Because we know that people can't get enough of these fun tidbits, a Missing Link Archive has been added to the Best Web Links section of Search390.com.

To cap off this tour of 2002, I would like to give you a tiny glimpse of what to expect from Search390.com in 2003. For starters, you can already discuss migration to z/OS with your peers in our brand new forum! You can further expect "Upgrading to z Series" to become a more significant part of the site in general throughout the coming year. If you are concerned that your most valued topic will not get enough coverage in 2003, make it a point to let me know what you hope to see.

Happy Holidays!

Tip of the Week:
Small servers to have big role in data centers of the future
By David A. Kelly
Data center planning has typically revolved around mainframes and traditional high-end servers. But experts think the future may look a bit different. Instead of managing "big iron" and building their strategic plans around servers, tomorrow's managers may find themselves focusing on Intel-type servers that run Windows or Linux and building their strategic plans around their data.
