USER AUTHENTICATION IN WAS 5.0 | by Stephen Swoyer

WebSphere Application Server (WAS) 4.0 can authenticate users against
a variety of registries, including custom user registries which
implement the CustomRegistry interface. But WAS 5.0 exploits a new
interface -- UserRegistry Java -- along with a new security model
that introduces a significant change in the design of custom user
registries. Read how UserRegistry Java works in this tip.

PROGRAMMATIC LOGOUTS | by Stephen Swoyer

Java Class FormLogoutServlet facilitates the task of logging out --
i.e., of removing a user's successful authentication -- in WebSphere
Application Server (WAS) 4.x. But it only works well if the user
initiates a logout. What if you want to programmatically log out a
user? This tip offers a solution.

NEED HELP WITH FTP JCL? | Operating Systems forum

Search390.com user "amirmeps" posted the following in the Operating
Systems forum: "I am currently downloading 11 files daily from MVS
OS/390 V2R5 to a Windows 2000 Server with FTP using JCL. I would like
the PC filename to be unique and contain the current S/390 system
date. Is there a parameter within the JCL that can be used as a
symbolic to plug in the date as part of the filename?"

AUTHENTICATING USERS IN CICS WEB SUPPORT (CWS) | by Jim Keohane

Dear Ask the Expert,
How do I authenticate users using RACF for applications running in
CICS Web Support (CWS) with existing software? The IBM sample
programs do one of the following:

(1) Invoke HTTP Basic Authentication, which allows Internet Explorer
users to save their passwords, permitting unauthorized users to sign
on using cached passwords.

(2) Result in non-persistent verifications requiring users to present
credentials at every page change. We need persistent verified user id
and no stored passwords.
