A very knowledgeable systems programmer told me 'z/OS will only run in 64-bit mode on a zSeries box. Unless you've got that transition fix in place, then you've got six months to get to 64-bit mode.' Is this true? Do I have to change the ARCHLVL statement if I am not going to 64-bit mode? >> CLICK for Jim's expert response: http://search390.techtarget.com/ateQuestionNResponse/0,289625,sid10_cid511522_tax292523,00.html =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= WHAT TO DO ALONG THE WAY TO 64-BIT PROCESSING? | Discussion forum Search390.com user "64bitjourney" posted the following in the Upgrading to zSeries forum and needs your advice: "We will be converting to 64-bit soon in our journey to z/OS. We are OS/390 r2.10 with regular COBOL processors. Do we need any new processors, recompiles or parameters to get to 64-bit processing?" >> CLICK to post a response: http://search390.discussions.techtarget.com/WebX?[EMAIL PROTECTED]@.1dcfcc41/7!viewtype=convdate&skip=&expand= =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= WHY CONSOLIDATE SERVERS ON A Z800? | by Jim Schesvold If you're comparing the advantages of a mainframe to a server farm, z/OS guru Jim Schesvold offers some pointers. Here he outlines a list of arguments for consolidating servers on a zSeries platform. >> CLICK for the full tip: http://search390.techtarget.com/tip/1,289483,sid10_gci874250,00.html?FromTaxonomy=/pr/286674 Like this tip? Then stop reading them! Pop-up ads are the gnats of the Net -- everyone wants to swat them. So why are so many of us reading them? Believe it or not, this reviled form of advertising -- which has turned the mildest-mannered men and women into mouse-mashing pop-up killers -- seems to work! A new study has found that more people click on pop-ups than banner ads. This is bad news if you're hoping pop-ups' unpopularity portends their demise. In fact, there's a new type of ad that clicks through to the advertiser's site when you move your mouse over it. Ugh!
