DO YOU KNOW WHAT A PL/X IS? | by Jim Keohane

While PL/X has largely been an internal IBM secret, some consider
this proprietary language a strategic advantage. But what does it
look like? Check out the benefits, source samples and variations of

C STRINGS IN A COBOL, PL/I, S/390 ASSEMBLER WORLD | by Jim Keohane

How can C strings handle COBOL LOW-VALUES in a record/field? Why must
you count up to a NULL byte to determine a string's length when
you're used to separate length fields from COBOL, PL/I and assembler
legacy data? Why does C think "Hello" is lower than "Hello " when
COBOL and PL/I think both literals are equal? Here's some help for
those legacy cases.

HOW TO READ RRDS WITH A KEY IN PL/I? | Ask the Expert

Dear Tom Ross,
How do I read an RRDS (relative record dataset) with a key in PL/I?
How do I declare it to tie the key to the file? The key is MYKEY
FIXED BIN(31) INIT(0). A code example, which does not work, is MYKEY
= 42; READ FILE (MYFILE) INTO (MYLAYOUT) KEY(MYKEY). As a result, the
file is read sequentially from the beginning.

NEW IBM DB2 OFFERING ADDRESSES INTEGRATION | News: SearchDatabase.com

IBM's new DB2 Information Integrator software addresses the
integration needs of most enterprise decision makers, the company and
an analyst said. It brings together structured and unstructured data
from disparate sources and should be a hit for enterprises needing to
synchronize their customer relationship management data. DB2
Information Integrator is the first product to come out of IBM's
Xperanto research project.

THE MISSING LINK | Technology drives motorists to blissful ignorance

Technology -- it sure beats thinking. A new computerized product
could make getting behind the wheel a real no-brainer, which is good
because a lot of drivers seem to be short on brains but long on
middle fingers.
