LEAD STORY

USERS OFFER VARIED PREDICTIONS ON SCO SUIT | SEnterpriseLinux.com
There is little clarity on the long-term impact SCO Group's suit
against IBM Corp. will have on Linux. Some industry observers predict
dire days ahead for Linux, while others pass it off as posturing by
the holders of the title to Unix. SCO, meanwhile, forges ahead with
its billion-dollar action claiming IBM improperly donated part of
SCO's Unix code to the Linux kernel.

Poster Gramps asks: "Is it possible for RACF to audit at the program
level? I have a load module in a PDS that I want to audit that is
executing the module. Is this possible with RACF? I know you can
audit the accessing of a data set profile, but I want to go a level
deeper and audit a specific member in the data set. Any help would be
greatly appreciated."

THE MISSING LINK | How to succeed in IT: Do some curls

You're no doubt familiar with the monster beefs between companies
like Microsoft and Sun, and more recently SCO Group and IBM. Those
Goliaths could save themselves armloads of cash if they took a cue
from a couple of Davids. Two telecoms in New Zealand, TeamTalk Ltd.
and MCS Digital Inc., couldn't come to terms on access to a mobile
radio network. The case was headed to court until the CEOs of both
firms decided to roll up their sleeves and settle the matter like men
-- in a best-of-three arm-wrestling match. TeamTalk didn't have the
muscle to "walk the walk" and had to fork out about $112,000, but its
defeated CEO said that his sore arm would have hurt a lot more if he
had been forced to write checks to lawyers.
