TRANSFERRING A FILE FROM UNIX TO A MAINFRAME SYSTEM | Ask the Expert

Dear Jim:

I have to transfer a file from Unix to a mainframe system. Then I
need to start a job on the mainframe immediately following the
transfer. I have a FTP script to transfer the files. How do I modify
my script to automatically start a mainframe job after successful
transfer of the file?

CAN REXX/ASSEMBLER CALL A PIECE OF REXX CODE? | Ask the Expert

Dear Mark:

Is there any way under OS/390 or z/OS that I can get a REXX function
written in Assembler to call a standard piece of REXX code? i.e
REXX-Exex_1 calls REXX_Func which wants to call REXX_Exec_2.

ORACLE'S LEAD NARROWING IN DATABASE MARKET | SearchDatabase.com

The gap between front-runner Oracle and competitor IBM in the
database market is closing, according to a new report from IDC. But
one Oracle executive said that IBM enjoys a large annual revenue base
from its mainframe and AS/400 sales where licensing plans for those
products require renewal, and therefore remain consistent each year.
Oracle's growth, he said, can be traced to its new and improved
offerings.

THE MISSING LINK | McDonald's: We love to see you surf

Except for the Filet-O-Fish, McDonald's is all about turf. This week,
the Golden Arches will add more surf. Ten of the fast food joints in
Manhattan will throw in a side of wireless Internet access if you buy
a combo meal. You deserve some Net access today! Just think, while
the kids open up those Happy Meal toys, you can do a Google search
for "choking hazards." The access is good for an hour -- if you want
more, you can pay $3 for an additional hour or just get another No.
4. Or maybe the No. 3 with no onions. McDonald's plans to have
"McWiFi" in 300 more restaurants by year's end.
