IBM said its p690 system using 16 Power4+ processors executed 763,898 transactions per minute at a cost of $8.31 per tpm based on the TPC-C benchmark. IBM TO SHIP EXPRESS WEBSPHERE COMMERCE, WEBSPHERE MQ | Internet Week Big Blue's faithful midmarket customers have some new WebSphere offerings coming their way. IBM said it plans to roll out a new line of WebSphere Express including WebSphere Commerce Express and WebSphere MQ Express. WebSphere Commerce Express will include DB2 and WebSphere Application Server, IBM said. INTEL AIMS 'MADISON' PROCESSOR AT IBM, SUN CLIENTS | Bloomberg News Intel began selling its latest line of Itanium processors today and hopes its processing power will pull customers away from the likes of IBM and Sun Microsystems. The Itanium 2, code-named 'Madison', is the first Intel chip that can handle 64-bits and delivers as much as 50 percent better performance than current Itaniums, the company said.
