The closer we get to the holidays, the more money I spend. It's inevitable. If I see something in a store that is perfect for anyone on my list, I have to buy it. Call it a big heart or stupidity. The point is: I'm not a person who should be making 2004 budget decisions. But you certainly are.
There's been a great deal of talk recently about the economy. Most people feel it's getting better and will continue to do so in 2004. Whether the IT industry will share in this windfall is yet to be determined.
We want to know what your 2004 budgets look like. Do you have more money to work with? What are your priorities? Are they different than this year? Take our 2004 Spending Survey today and let us know.
Have a wonderful and safe holiday season.
Until next time,
Mark Brunelli, Site Editor

STORAGE TIP
Avoid these storage ROI pitfalls
At many shops, adding incremental storage is an operational expense that few people analyze deeply, if at all, from a cost-versus-benefit point of view. Storage is simply considered a cost of doing business, much like buying a few additional PCs might be. |

| Tip of the Week: |
OK. OK. It's not quite jennicam.org, but if techie voyeurs out there wish to ogle CICS, in full web abandon, they should check out the University of Florida's CNS (Computing & Network Services), at http://www.cics.ufl.edu. Think of it as a Webcam peephole into a university setting. Since it is dedicated to nerds, CNS eschews coed dorms preferring instead silicon implements.
Read this entire tip to learn about subsecond Web response using CICS Socket Interface as well as the minutiae of administrative and technical matters in a large computing service facility. |
