Advice
Moving from LE for OS/390 1.1 to LE for OS/390 2.10
[Tom Ross]
A user asked: We are converting our CICS regions from LE 1.1 to LE 2.10. Everything is working fine except for a vendor product (TEXTDBMS) that is now consuming large amounts of storage and causing the region to go SOS. Are there any run-time options that I may have set incorrectly going from 1.1 to 2.10?

Moving to z/OS 1.4 and changed run-time options
[Tom Ross]
A user asked: Our IT shop recently migrated from OS/390 to z/OS v1.4. We think we are now seeing a few problems with batch COBOL LE programs where some WORKING-STORAGE fields are no longer being initialized by the operating system. Have you heard of any similar problems following a migration to z/OS? Could this be compiler related? We did not relink every program prior to the upgrade.

Should I recompile when moving to a new compiler?
[Tom Ross]
A user asked: We are migrating COBOL compiler to Enterprise COBOL. Currently we are working with IBM COBOL for OS/390 and VM 2.2.2.We are using DB2 V. 7 and CICS 2.2. How important/significant is it to compile all programs before I migrate to this new compiler version?

Requirements for migrating to Enterprise COBOL
[Tom Ross]
A user asked: We are migrating from OS/390 to z/OS. Applications are currently running on VS-COBOL-II. The plan is to make all applications LE complaint on OS/390. Moving forward to z/OS, would it be required to migrate to Enterprise COBOL for any particular reason? Would there be any benefit from upgrading our applications to Enterprise COBOL?
