WHAT NON-Z/OS IBM SOFTWARE PRODUCTS ARE SUPPORTED | Ask the Expert

A Search390.com user asked Jim Schesvold, our z/OS migration expert:

"We want to migrate from OS/390 V2R9 (IBM 2003-20/) to z/OS v1rx
(Z/series IBM 2086-210). We are programming in VisualAge for CSP with
the IBM VisualAge Generator Developer for OS/2 v2.2 and we have the
VisualAge Generator server 1.2.0 in the mainframe. If we migrate to
z/OS, what happen with the programs written in VisualAge for CSP? I
don't find this product in the z/OS operating system."

DEFINING TAPE CONSOLES | Ask the Expert

A Search390.com user asked Mark Zelden, our OS/390 and z/OS systems
programming expert:

"We are placing eight console sessions -- tape consoles -- on a 42"
monitor, four on each side of the screen. For each console session
you can view only about six lines of the 24 lines defined. Is there
any way to define the console as six lines so the operator can see
whole defined area? Otherwise, the tape mount messages may be up at
the top of the screen and out of view."

THE MISSING LINK | E-gads! Some have a stomach for spam

This story could be disturbing to some readers. In fact, this would
give Stephen King nightmares. Parental discretion is advised. Ready?
Some people like spam! As unspeakable as the notion sounds to most of
civilization, a survey of Yahoo Mail users revealed that 20% actually
bought stuff from spammers. These spam feeders say they find good
bargains in their little inbox of horrors. Evidently, one man's trash
folder is another man's treasure. (USA Today)
