The Missing Link

Is that REALLY Ed McMahon calling?
[The Register]
Star 69, Star 70, Star Jones -- and now Star 38 is about to be a star "Star." New site www.Star38.com is a Web interface to a Caller ID spoofing system. Subscribers can use the system to pick the number they want to pop up on the recipient?s Caller ID screen. This could mean creditors, in-laws and scorned loves could try to pass themselves off as someone else -- Publishers Clearing House maybe -- to hoodwink the person on the other end of the line to pick up. Star38.com eventually may hit some legal snags, but for now, beware the spoofers.
