ASK THE EXPERT:
Attempting to transfer EBCDIC files
A Search390.com user asked Jim Keohane, our Web integration and troubleshooting expert:
I am attempting to transfer a PC file to a mainframe. The file is currently in EBCDIC format, but when I transfer it up as binary I don't seem to be getting the line feed characters correctly. If I attempt the transfer through Attachmate Extra and specify line feed on then it comes up correctly, but I need to automate this solution using native FTP.

Can you hear me now? Cheers!
[The Register]
Raise your glass to technology -- it's really raising the bar. Several London establishments are now part of a service wherein you log onto a Web site (www.buymeabeer.com), pick a libation, enter a friend's cell phone number and a personal message, and then prepay the tab. The recipient of your generosity then goes to one of the participating pubs and shows the text message -- then voila -- a free drink. This toast of technology
and "ale" of an idea is a good way to buy your buddy a Bud without having to actually move out of your chair.
