I am a member of the IT internal audit team, and we're very concerned because IT management wants to change our S/390 VSE/ESA 2.3 (soon to be updated to VSE/ESA 2.6) to Unix and Oracle platforms. IT managers base their decision on the opinion that S/390 is an obsolete platform and it doesn't have enough support. However, we want to maintain our mainframe platform and upgrade it in the future (maybe to z/890, for example). Where can we find info to support our argument? On the other hand, the IT management has evaluated acquiring z/890 to create redundancy.
