MOVING ON OVER

From the Editor

I'm the kind of person that embraces change. I accept new challenges as quickly and eagerly as a certain sales person here grabs new treats out of the candy dish on my desk.

But it is with some reluctance that I pass my baton as news editor of Search400 com and Search390.com over to the "new guy," Matt Stansberry. Matt is a terrific addition to the team -- he's smart, enthusiastic and brings a fresh perspective to these very important markets. But the truth is, I could have stayed on as news editor forever -- I just loved covering it that much.

Still, five years as news editor is a pretty good run. So when an opportunity presented itself for me here at TechTarget to be the editor of a new site, SearchDataCenter.com, I jumped at it. The new site covers a broad range of issues that you deal with on a daily basis, much of it platform related. We're also covering all the hot topics such as security, storage, networking and the physical environment of the data center. We're aggressively working on adding tips, white papers, webcasts and of course, news, to our pages. I'm really energized about SearchDataCenter.com and I encourage you to visit the site and check things out. Then let me know what you think by e-mailing me.

I don't expect SearchDataCenter.com to be your new site of choice, just consider it as a complement to two already great sources of information, Search400.com and Search390.com.

FEATURED EXPERT: Linux on the mainframe
[David Boyes, president, Sine Nomine Associates]

Anyone who works with Linux on IBM's S/390 mainframes has certainly heard of David Boyes. He made history early in the project by running no less than 41,400 Linux images on a single mainframe, all of them doing real work under simulated load as Web servers. More recently, David has been involved in helping application service providers and other companies deploy Linux on S/390 hardware. Dr. David Boyes is CTO and President of Sine Nomine Associates, (Latin for "without name"), which he runs with his wife Margarete, and has participated in operating systems and networking research for more than 20 years, working on design and deployment of systems and voice/data networks worldwide. David has designed scenarios and economic models for systems deployment on many platforms, and is currently involved in design and worldwide deployment of scalable system infrastructure for several Global 1000 companies.
