Murphy, who was responsible for leading the daily operations of the Austin, Texas, company, plans to take charge of a Silicon Valley e-commerce company, according to IBM. Steve Mills, IBM's senior vice president and group executive of the software group, will fill in while a replacement for Murphy is sought.
