LEAD STORY
"Is another renaming in iSeries' future?"
If last year's renaming of the AS/400 wasn't enough to get
the ranks riled, maybe this recent rumor will. The word is
that IBM may be changing the name of the OS/400. Of course,
Big Blue isn't saying a word -- except to say they aren't
saying a word. But don't be shocked if you start hearing
the name OS/4i every now and then in the coming months.

"Forget PTA; this school goes PDA"
Whatever happened to a ringed binder and a sharpened No. 2
pencil? An affluent North Carolina private school has
become the first K-12 school in the nation to require its
students to purchase a handheld computer that it says will
be used for word processing and will include a graphing
calculator, flash cards, a grade book for teachers, e-mail
and more. The cost of the Palm IIIc and portable keyboard
will be added to the students' yearly $10,700 tuition.
Laptops were the school's first choice, but officials found
the notebooks less flexible and too expensive!
