LEAD STORY
"Disk failures: Before you replace, rebuild"
Experts suggest that all those disks being reported as
having failed in iSeries shops in recent weeks may not
actually be defective. Even though OS/400 says the disks
are in fact defective, users may be able to rebuild the
units.

[1] "WebSphere DummyKeyring set to expire on Thursday"
IBM's recent announcement that it would expire the
DummyKeyring certificates on July 21, 2001, was incorrect.
In an e-mail sent out Monday the company said the
certificates will actually expire on Thursday, July 19,
2001. That means users have only until Thursday to
correct the DummyKeyring problem rather than Saturday.

CGIDEV2 library. In the first two articles in this series
the basic CGI APIs needed for Web page input and output
were explained. You can also view the first two articles

"Floridians mock cop cams"
People are wearing masks and making obscene gestures at
cameras, but it's not on Bourbon Street. The cameras in
this case are the property of the Tampa, Fla., police
department. About 100 people protested a new security
system that scans faces in the city's crime-ridden
nightlife district to search for wanted criminals. The
video cameras snap pictures of faces in the crowd and
analyze 80 facial points between the nose, cheekbones and
eyes to compare them to a database of 30,000 criminals and
runaway teens. In a related note, sales at novelty shops of
fake glasses and funny noses have skyrocketed.
