"IBM expands Linux marketing push"
IBM will push Linux for its iSeries line with a scaled-down
version used for mainframes. Upshot: Several copies of
Linux can run on a single iSeries server, letting customers
consolidate jobs currently running on several computers.

MORE ON THIS TOPIC:

The push is on! IBM says several copies of
Linux can run on a single iSeries server, and it plans to
spend $1 billion on developing and promoting Linux this
year. Do you think this will enable IBM to be able to
compete with the big boys? What are your thoughts on this?

THE MISSING LINK
A look at an off-the-wall story off the Web
----------------------------------------

"Shower power"
An engineer at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst
was so vexed by why a shower curtain billows in when the
water is on that he spent $28,000 on a high-end software
package to solve the mystery. After 50 hours of computer
time and 1.5 trillion calculations, he's determined that
the shower pushes the air into a large vortex with a low-
pressure center that literally sucks the curtain in --
something akin to a hurricane on its side. Great. Now that
that mystery is solved, maybe he could figure out why socks
go in the dryer but don't come out.

WHY DO OVER 1,000 CUSTOMERS USE ZMOD FTP from TrailBlazer
Systems? Because native batch FTP scripting doesn't offer
recovery, encryption or data formatting options. ZMOD FTP is an
AS/400-based FTP client that provides S/MIME, SSL and TLS
encryption. It also provides automatic reformatting of
data (DDS <---> XML, CSVs, etc.). Best of all, you can
recover from an error WHEN IT OCCURS because every FTP
command is a CL command (MONMSG on GETs, PUTs, DELs....).
ZMOD FTP pays for itself the first time you prevent damage.
Why wait when you can implement reliable and secure FTP
NOW! For a FREE trial, visit http://www.as400ftp.com/s400
