[1] "IBM thrives on its partnership with Linux"
It may be shocking to some that IBM is backing Linux on the
iSeries so vigorously, but to users of the platform, there
are some very compelling reasons to support the open-source
model.

[2] "IBM layoffs trim local work force"
The pink slips were handed out again this week -- about 100
-- this time to workers in IBM's Server Group. It is the
latest in a continuing pattern of small cuts in head count
this year at various parts of IBM.

distribute objects over an untrusted network. You're guided
through the redesigned Digital Certificate Manager (DCM)
with its new functions, such as Certificate Revocation List
processing. You'll also be introduced to the new Global

[2] "Raising the level of data precision"
This article is about extensible markup language (XML) and
the foundation it was based on --- standard generalized
markup language (SGML). These two languages are the more
widely used technologies in the IT industry. In this
article you'll learn about document type definition (DTD),
which defines the various elements, attributes and overall

THE MISSING LINK
A look at an off-the-wall story off the Web
--------------------------------------------

"Video toothbrush hunts 'debris'"
For those who think flossing is not enough: An electronic
toothbrush with a camera that can track down every last
scrap of food left in your mouth. Even though regular
brushing could miss up to 40% of the food particles hiding
in the crevices of your teeth, experts say a tool like this
isn't necessary to maintain healthy teeth. Sure, but
wouldn't it be neat to have after eating a box of Oreos?
