LEAD STORY
"iSeries disks could be dying of starvation, competitor says"
Could IBM be in denial? There have been numerous reports from iSeries
customers complaining of disk drive failures. But while IBM says the
failures are isolated, one competitor says the problem is more
widespread.

[1] "Server sales hit by slowdown in Europe, U.S."
A weakened economy in both the U.S. and Western Europe is to be
blamed once again for a drop in the sales of high-end, midrange
servers. According to a Dataquest report, the server market grew only
0.7% this quarter. Compaq retained its position as the top server
vendor, and Dell and IBM followed as close seconds. Upshot: Companies
may be holding off on buying higher-end systems.

[2] "Internet watchers say Code Red Worm attack blunted"
The Code Red worm continues to attack, but the number of new assaults
is dropping, experts said. Apparently, the worm is "running out of
food" as computers protect their computers with a patch.

In this article the writer helps you to understand Web application
servers. If you've read anything at all about Java, Extensible Markup

application server. You'll learn what a Web application server does
and why you should be using one.

THE MISSING LINK
A look at an off-the-wall story off the Web
----------------------------------------
"First Web star is for sale"
The Web's most famous coffee pot is up for bid. It was 1991 when
Cambridge University researchers -- in an effort to avoid running low
on joe -- first pointed a video frame-grabber at their coffeemaker,
wrote a program that snapped a picture every few seconds and posted
the images to a server. Bored Net surfers got hooked. Eventually the
site drew about 2.4 million visitors. It was one of the first apps
that showed the Web's potential. This year, the researchers are
moving to new digs, and the now-broken Trojan Room coffee maker is
being offered (where else?) on eBay.
