LEAD STORY
"iSeries job market darkening despite one firm's findings"
Several indicators point to a slowing market for iSeries
pros, although a recent survey from Nate Viall and
Associates (NVAA) says things are still pretty good. In its
Mid-2001 iSeries (AS/400) & PC Salary Survey Report, NVAA
found that the average salary for managers rose 7.9% to
$80,600. And salaries for programmers are up 8.7%.

[1] "iSeries users don't make it easy on Linux
distributors"
Early adopters of Linux on the iSeries will have some work
to do to get their systems running smoothly, admits the two
Linux distributors that are supporting the platform. Both
TurboLinux and SuSE have announced plans for iSeries
distributions of the open-source operating system. SuSE is
addressing concerns about availability and reliability,
while TurboLinux has focused on service concerns.

[2] "IBM serves up some surprises"
IBM's move last fall to bring all of its servers under the
eServer brand seems to be paying off. While rivals Sun
Microsystems and Hewlett-Packard have seen sluggish sales
this year, Big Blue has been gaining marketshare. But IBM
isn't resting on it laurels; this fall it will release new
state-of-the-art Unix and PC servers and continue its
investment in Linux.

"Naked surfing outbreak hits Yorkshire"
What do Brits wear while surfing the Internet? Not very
much. That's the naked truth from a new AOL-commissioned
report. U.K. Web users were asked to identify their most
common online attire. By far, most folks wore T-shirts and
jeans, but come on... who really cares about them?
Approximately 27% of West Country women say they surf in
nothing but lingerie, while 8% of Yorkshire Internet users
wear nothing at all. Before you scoff at these bare facts,
consider this: What are YOU wearing right now?
