Get the scoop on FTP

A look at the most searched-for terms on search400 for October showed us that FTP was top on your minds. In fact, it's been the most searched-for term on our site for almost the whole year. And as we looked at other sections of the site -- the discussion forums, tips and questions to our experts -- we found FTP was a hot topic there as well.

Obviously, as you look to transfer data to and from the iSeries, FTP becomes an essential tool. To help you with your use of FTP, we have several resources on the site. One is our featured topic on iSeries networking. In here you'll find information about various connectivity issues, including FTP. We also have a Best Web Links category dedicated to FTP articles, tips and Web sites, and there are plenty of discussion threads in our OS/400 discussion forum in which people offer advice on FTP and talk about their experiences.

But if you still have questions, feel free to submit a question to our site experts. We'll see if they can help you out.

Tip of the Week:
Simple way to retrieve mixed-case data
Another way to deal with mixed-case text within your RPG program is to retrieve the key field and ignore the case it's in. In this tip, site expert John Kohan shows you an easy way to translate text without placing additional lines of code within your program. And the simpler the code, the easier it is to maintain later.
