IBM TRIES TO CRUSH FAST400 | News: The Four Hundred

IBM has released two HIPER PTFs to disable the controversial
Fast400 governor-buster program on OS/400 V5R1 and V4R5.
According to the description of these PTFs supplied by IBM,
they fix a data integrity problem. But the error description
also states, "modified or patched MI programs -- referring to
the microcode that exists below OS/400's Machine Interface
layer -- may modify SLIC internal structures, causing
unpredictable results."

THE MISSING LINK | Ginger: They think it's all over...

It's time to scoot all the hype into history. We now know what
Ginger is. No, it's not the new, improved Tina Louise from
Gilligan's Island. For those of you who missed "Good Morning
America" today, the invention is a battery-powered scooter. The
Segway Human Transporter, the new name for the secret formerly
known as Ginger, won't even wobble thanks to a bunch of
gyroscopes and computers. It can hit top speeds of 17 miles per
hour and gets killer gas mileage because it doesn't use any
petro. The scooter is being touted as THE way to go in
polluted, crowded inner cities. A fully-loaded model will run
about $3,000 -- that includes a permanent sunroof.
