Storage tips, advice, analysis -- all for free
As part of our coverage on search400, we try to keep you up to date on the latest storage products and technologies for the iSeries as well as give you tips and advice for managing storage, backing up and recovering data and protecting that data.

We know you are always looking for ways to help with your storage issues. With that in mind, we want to let you know about a comprehensive, new source of information to help you address those needs.

Beginning in March, TechTarget (our parent company) will publish a new magazine called Storage. As the name suggests, it's completely dedicated to storage. In its pages, you'll find articles unlike anything elsewhere. These in-depth articles will help you do the following:

* Formulate your storage strategy.
* Pick the architectures that are right for your enterprise.
* Meet the storage requirements of today's critical applications.
* Get analysis from some of the world's leading storage experts about the technologies and products that are shaping your world.

Storage magazine will be a great complement to the news, tips and discussions you currently enjoy on search400. It's comparative, objective, analytic, skeptical and technically informed. Whether you want to get up to speed on storage for e-commerce or the latest in backup technology, or just want to know how to secure your SAN, Storage will be a must read for you.

This Week: In the forums
>> Stop users from deleting joblogs
How can you prevent them from doing this? A few search400 members have some suggestions, including writing an exit program for the DLTSPLF command. Do you agree?
Is there a better way to do it?
>> Getting a 4247 printer to print variable point sizes
This user is at OS/400 V4R3 and has an IBM 4247 Printer Model 003 Twinax attached with the IPDS feature that is suppose to be able to be able to print at different point sizes. The problem is he can't get this feature to work.
Has anyone been able to do this?

Tip of the Week:
Tricks and techniques for FTPing OS/400 save files
Save files (SAVF) are great for transferring iSeries and AS/400 objects between OS/400-based machines. They can quickly zip large amounts of information between two AS/400s, especially if the save files are transmitted via FTP. Unfortunately, there's a little bit of misunderstanding about how to properly FTP save files between two iSeries machines. There are a few simple, but hard-fast, rules that users must follow.
