LEAD STORY

NATIVE AIX RUMORED FOR ISERIES LPAR | News: The Four Hundred

IBM is expected to roll out by July full support for the AIX
operating system -- running within logical partitions on iSeries
servers -- coinciding with the release of OS/400 V5R2. The support
of AIX partitions on the iSeries platform will make the machine
more attractive to customers and potentially to software vendors,
too. Support for native AIX is seen by some as further evidence
that IBM will eventually merge the iSeries and pSeries server
lines.

E-MAIL DISTRIBUTION FRUSTRATION | Tip: search400

With e-office becoming more a reality and iSeries offering flexible
tools to achieve it, this tip will be of great use. If e-mail
distribution sent from iSeries 400 arrives at the destination as
different packets, then the best solution is to set the server
attributes correctly. If you follow this tip, the next time you
send e-mail from the iSeries, you should see your message being
delivered as one, instead of several.

A MORE EFFICIENT ARRAY LOOKUP | Tip: search400

According to search400 user Noel Cannon, another way to optimize a
lookup (especially when the array may only be partially filled) is
to begin filling the array from the bottom up. Check out this tip
for the details.

THE MISSING LINK | Hacker claims Web worm meant to combat sexism

Is this what the Spice Girls meant by "girl power"? A 17-year-old
Dutch girl, who claims to have bred the "Sharpei" worm to nip
Microsoft's .NET Web services platform, said she did it to show
that women can write viruses, too. She told security firm Sophos
that she didn't want the worm to do any damage, but she did want it
to spread a message -- that cyberspace isn't just a man's world. I
am woman, hear me hack?
