Maybe it's a message to the system console, maybe it's to tell users that they can sign back on after an end-of- month job has completed, or maybe it's just to wish your co-worker a happy birthday. Here is how you can do it. This program was designed to be submitted to batch with you passing it a device name and your message. These parameters can be fed to it manually or as the result of another job feeding it a list of device names and your message. It will display your message for either an hour or when the user hits enter, whichever comes first. >> CLICK here for the full tip: http://www.search400.com/tip/1,289483,sid3_gci815647,00.html ============================================================ Answers to Other Programmer Questions ============================================================ 1. Message break-handling programs Use this program from Search400 member Bill Greenlee to allow messages that require a response to break into your current job. http://search400.techtarget.com/tip/1,289483,sid3_gci539702,00.html 2. Display a scrolling message in your RPG application Search400 member Dwight Beech shows you how you can catch a user's attention with a scrolling message in the message window of your RPG application. http://search400.techtarget.com/tip/1,289483,sid3_gci557591,00.html 3. Notify operators of error messages even if they're not signed on If you want the operators to be notified of an error message your application encounters, you send a message to the message queue QSYSOPR. But what if they're not signed on to the system and an immediate response is required on that particular message? Search400 member Ravinder Pal tells you what you can do to send messages to system operator if they're not signed on their terminal/console. http://search400.techtarget.com/tip/1,289483,sid3_gci554057,00.html 4. Send messages that get attention Why walk when you can QEZSNDMG your users? Send messages to multiple users, to *ALL, to active users only or pick them from a list. On top of that, you can interrupt them and demand a reply. Search400 member Serge D. tells you how. http://search400.techtarget.com/tip/1,289483,sid3_gci553290,00.html ---------------------------------------------------------------- *** Special Training Offer: 30% off - Introduction to XML *** ---------------------------------------------------------------- If you're looking to learn XML, this is the perfect introductory course.
