Earlier this week, if you went to United.com you could get a round-trip ticket for $5. Sounds like an unreal bargain -- actually it was a real snafu. United meant to knock five bucks off the price of a ticket purchased from its Web site. But the company that makes publishing airfares its business, the Airline Tariff Publishing Co., errantly posted the fare as $5. About 45 minutes later, the problem was fixed. United says it will honor the fare for those who bought it, "fare" and square.
