Using these options, you can perform a full save of the Integrated File System or a partial save of IFS files based on patterns in your file naming conventions. Partial saves come in handy for backing up information stored under a single IFS directory, such as the root directory of a Web server, a Domino directory, or an application data directory. Using partial IFS saves, you can segment your backup strategy to save different IFS directories to different tape drives or to move an application (such as a Domino server) to a save file or tape for migration to another system. Joe Hertvik provides a look at some of the different options you can set on the SAV command and how they can help you implement both full and partial IFS backups. >> Click here to review the full tip... http://search400.techtarget.com/tip/1,289483,sid3_gci837259,00.html ============================================================= Answers to Other Administrator Questions ============================================================= 1. Spooled files go poof "Damien" was having a problem with print jobs not printing from his printer even though it went to PND, then WTR, and then a SAV status. >From the iSeries the job looked like it printed, but there was no output at the printer. He turned to the Search400 OS/400 Discussion Forum for advice. Read what other iSeries users suggested. http://search400.discussions.techtarget.com/WebX?[EMAIL PROTECTED]^[email protected]/1304 2. RST of information saved using SAV command This member wonders if a RST of information saved using SAV command has not been done when migrating from one iSeries to another. He asked Search400 site expert John Brandt what implications might this have for future use of the IFS. http://search400.techtarget.com/ateQuestionNResponse/0,289625,sid3_cid390628_tax285220,00.html 3. Run SAVSYS backup in a restrictive state to prevent errors Search400's backup and recovery expert Ken Graap walks a user through the process of a full iSeries system backup. The user submitted a CL to Ken that contained commands, including ENDTCP, ENDSBS and SAVSYS. http://search400.techtarget.com/ateQuestionNResponse/0,289625,sid3_cid468069_tax288615,00.html 4. *SAVSYS special authority One user writes, "What are the implications of giving a user *SAVSYS special authority so they can backup other user's files?" Read what site expert Ken Graap had to say. http://www.search400.com/ateQuestionNResponse/0,289625,sid3_cid372945_tax285222,00.html _____________________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________________ ::::::: DON'T MISS THESE IMPORTANT MESSAGES AND LINKS :::::: =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= JUNE WINNERS ANNOUNCED | Search400 tips contest You've waited all month, and now the results are in...
