Case in point, as it were: San Antonio, Texas. A software consultant called for jury duty starting making his own rules, demanding $100 per hour for his "services" (the going rate is $40 per day) and warning that he would charge interest if the bill were not paid in full by the end of the month. But wait -- there's more! The guy wrote the court a note: "If you would like to meet and discuss this, please have his honor call and schedule an appointment." The juror caused a furor down at the courthouse -- the judge threatened to throw him in the clink for contempt. That seemed to reboot this guy back to reality -- he agreed to serve on the jury at no extra charge.
