Ask IBM execs your tough questions

Next week, editors from Search400.com will be in Denver at the fall COMMON user conference. As part of our coverage, we'll be talking to IBM executives (from marketing types to the product development guys) about the iSeries. We'll spend three days sitting in on interviews and press conferences with the executives you might not have direct access to.

We know what the executives have to say is important to you, but often at these user shows the one thing you wanted to know never gets addressed. Let us ask it for you. If you were sitting in on any of these interviews, what would you ask? What issues concern you? Send us your questions, and we'll do our best to get to the IBM executive who can answer it for you. We'll follow up with an exclusive article on Search400.com. Send your questions to me at [EMAIL PROTECTED].

Search400.com will also have a booth at the conference. So if you plan to attend the show, stop by booth 601 to say hi. We'd love to meet you.

This Week: In the forums
>> How to "refresh" a subfile
"Simson" says he created a "monitoring" program with subfile screen display. This program will monitor things such as active jobs or number of user signed on. And the screen needs to be refreshed every five minutes or so. He got some help from "spebola" and "Arbatros". Read what they had to say.

>> Cumulative PTFs and Group PTF alignment problems
"Bburgoyne" asks, "Is anyone else having problems with IBM releasing Group PTFs soon after they include (SF99501) with a Cume PTF package? Why can't IBM synchronize this so that systems management among multiple systems can be better coordinated and standardized?" Click over and share your thoughts.

>> No, no! I want Work with Spooled Files
"Bluesoul" says whenever he does 'wrksplf' his screen goes to 'Work With Printer Output' instead of going to 'Work with Spooled Files'. What is going on here? Fortunately "MindNL" knew what to do.

Tip of the Week:
Enable CGI programs and Net.Data for your V5R2 HTTP server
Having problems configuring Net.Data with the new HTTP Server (powered by Apache)? Get the advice you're looking for here. Brian R. Smith, senior consulting I/T specialist in the IBM International Technical Support Organization, shows you how to enable your server to support dynamically generated Web pages.
