During a recent support call, a technician showed site expert John Kohan a great way to capture a user's screen. Not only can you capture the person's Telnet session, but you also get everything that is running in the Windows task bar and system tray. Follow the five easy steps he's outline in this tip to do it yourself. >> CLICK here for the full tip: http://www.search400.com/tip/1,289483,sid3_gci860992,00.html ================================================================ Answers to Other Programmer Questions ================================================================ Enhanced method for displaying users' sessions Site expert Dwight Beech said his company's Help Desk often gets calls from users who get hung up in iSeries applications, Operational Assistant, Working with Spool Files, etc. Rather than just pressing enter and F9 to restart the DSPSCRN command to view a user's screen, Dwight set it up to view all users ACTIVE AS/400 screens. It also gives the MIS or Help Desk staff person the ability to refresh the screen to display user screens as they update their screens or navigate to other screens. http://search400.techtarget.com/tip/1,289483,sid3_gci833574,00.html Display any user's screen Search400.com member Yow Wai Fong uses this program to view any user's screen right from where you are sitting. http://search400.techtarget.com/tip/1,289483,sid3_gci824074,00.html View any user's screen View any user's current screen image easily and quickly, without having to determine the job number or name. This is an alternative to the above tip, "Display any user's screen." http://search400.techtarget.com/tip/1,289483,sid3_gci825189,00.html No more QPADEV* devices with Telnet sessions This Telnet exit program generates a useful device name for incoming Telnet sessions. It looks up the hostname in the DNS and uses it to generate a device name. When it doesn't find a name in the DNS, it generates a device name from the last two bytes from the IP address of the Telnet session. This can be useful when the device name, such as QPADEV0001, gives no clue as to the location of the connection. http://search400.techtarget.com/tip/1,289483,sid3_gci810238,00.html ________________________________________________________________ IMPORTANT MESSAGES AND LINKS: ================================================================ OCTOBER 2002 MONTH IN REVIEW | Search400.com October was a busy month for iSeries professionals.
