LEAD STORY

WOMEN PAID LESS, BUT NOT JUST BECAUSE OF GENDER | iSeries Network

According to this new report, the salaries of women working as
iSeries professionals continue to be lower than those of men in the
same positions. But the writer of the report -- Nate Viall, president
of Nate Viall and Associates -- said the inequity in pay is a result
of several other factors, not just gender. (Free

WHO IS LOCKING THOSE FILE RECORDS? | Tip: Search400.com

Facing a record lock problem on iSeries is common. Assume that
there's a physical file that can be accessed by a number of users at
the same time; you want to update a record that is locked by another
user. How do you know which user has locked that particular record?
Search400.com member Pankaj Rawat provides a command that will get
you to a screen that shows you the locked record number, name of the
job and the user who has locked that record, the job number, status,
and the type of lock.

RECEIVE SMTP MAIL INTO A PROGRAM | Forum advice: Search400.com

"Cgross" writes, "There are lots of articles about setting up SMTP
on the iSeries and using it to send MIME type e-mail. We have
several applications that can send various types of files using the
QtmmSendMail API, but how can we receive SMTP mail by program?" Do
you know?

THE MISSING LINK | Guarding the Net: Gabriel leads patron saint pack

You can hear the band playing the new song now: "When the saints go
surfing in." The Vatican is trying to decide who will be the patron
saint of the Internet, the one to pray to when you need a higher
power for protection from hackers, pop-ups and so forth. Right now,
the archangel Gabriel has a spirited lead, but there is some quality
competition, including a Polish priest who believed in using
technology to spread the word. Saint Clare of Assisi is also in the
running, despite being the current patron saint of television. Can
there be a Saint of all media? We should know by Easter. Stay tuned.
