Or which ditty will be the second coming of "She Bop"? A new software tool has an ear for hit songs. Developed by a firm in Spain, the program hones in on the hits before they even hit the radio. The software, called Hit Song Science (HSS), breaks down and judges a new song's characteristics against proven hits. Using that data, it can tell whether a song will chart or tank -- and it's a lot nicer about it than that guy from "American Idol." The company says that the software marked Norah Jones for success months before she took all her Grammy awards home in a wheelbarrow. The company hopes HSS will be a hit with record executives.
